For the last few weeks the students have been working on Non-Fiction Reading. We have gone over non-fiction text features and how to read for information. Each day the students have a reading task to complete. We have been working a lot with the Bloom's Ladders of understanding. The students are to go through the 6 levels of understanding and answer a question at each level. As the levels get higher the questions get harder. This really helps to see how much the students "understand" what they are reading.
This week the students completed their Chapter 4 Social Studies Projects. They had to complete 2 out of 4 options.
1. Write 2 paragraphs about the land laws created 2. Create a timeline for the War of 1812 3. Do a Step-Inside of a 10 year old child in the early 1800s 4. Make a storyboard about the Native Americans in Michigan It was so fun to see all of their hard work and presentations. I was really impressed with some of the creativity that I saw in these projects. |
